The Breast Reduction Procedure
Dr. Jejurikar develops a unique treatment plan for each patient. He performs breast reduction in suburban Chicago by using one of several incision patterns to remove excess skin and tissue. Incisions may be made around the areola, vertically down from the areola to the crease, and, in some instances, along the crease. After incisions have been made and excess tissue has been removed, Dr. Jejurikar may use liposuction to remove excess fat as needed. He may also need to reduce the size of the areola or move it to a higher position on the breast. In many cases a breast lift is performed in conjunction with the breast reduction, both to lighten the breasts and to improve their shape and position.
Breast Reduction Recovery & Results
Although there will be some swelling after the procedure, the results of breast reduction are noticeable immediately. A special support bra protects the new breast shape and reduces post-surgical discomfort. Dr. Jejurikar provides very clear instructions to ensure a proper recovery.
When women return to their normal routine and all swelling has subsided, they usually find that they are able to enjoy activities that were previously uncomfortable, feel relief from back pain, and maybe even feel more confident wearing form-fitting clothing.
