What Happens During a KYBELLA Treatment?
During a KYBELLA treatment, Dr. Jejurikar or Hannah, our board-certified physician associate, customizes an injection plan to target the fat beneath your chin. This includes examining your chin and neck area and then making precise markings for the injections.
After applying a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort, the provider makes a series of injections using a fine needle. The treatment typically takes only about 15 to 20 minutes. You can return to most normal activities right away, although swelling, redness, or tenderness under the chin is common. Most of these side effects will subside after a few days, but it may take up to 3 weeks to fully resolve. Icing the treated area and using over-the-counter pain medication can relieve most of these issues.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?
Most patients need a series of treatments, typically 2 to 4 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart, to achieve their desired definition. Once those fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good. The number of injections needed during each treatment varies, depending on your goals and the results of the previous treatment.
